Happy New Year to everyone around the world

28 Dec

Sculpture in clay by Aunt Cathy from Kazo (Uganda), giving as a Christimas gift twenty years ago, here joined by a doll of good luck, received from a chinese girl in the train from Kassel to Göttingen while departing form Documenta 12 in 2007

In a world of apartheid
inclusion is very important

In a world of separation
inclusion becomes a comfort
to the pain caused
to our bodies

Inclusion is the motivation
for breaking up through the roof
from the lower deck

It will look like thunder and lightening
let thunder lighten up the sky
and there will be thousands of stars beginning to shine

In an undefinite future our dreams will come true
when my daugther’s grandchildren
see the light of the day
they will not be boys and girls
neither black nor white
in another world
a different time
respected
perceived
loved
for what they are
human beings
like you and me

The violence of the past
war, crime and despair
cruelty and pain
has long been buried
and capsuled in solid rocks
unbreakable by time
never forgotten
but left behind
